How secure will my storage shed be?Very! Our builds use pressure-treated framing and wood siding on the exterior walls. The doors are hung with heavy-duty hinges and locking hardware, so it’s quite difficult to break into. If you live in an area where heavy foot traffic or crime is a concern, a windowless design will provide even more protection.
-
Will I need to get a permit for this building? This depends on the local building department regulations and what they have determined as the square foot limitations for on-site buildings. While Hawaii county does allow a structure of up to 200 square feet to be built without a permit, it is the customer's responsibility to determine if they require a permit. The customer is responsible for obtaining and paying for any required permits. Garages and Recreational Buildings almost always require a building permit. Smaller storage sheds and sheds installed on rural building sites are less likely to require permits. Permit regulations vary according to location, and the customer should consult with the local governing body in the area where the building is to be constructed. Additionally, there may be covenants in your neighborhood regarding acceptable building size, style, height, location, etc. that should be considered as well. In some cases, additional documentation, engineering or other fees may be required. In these cases, any such additional required documentation will be the sole responsibility of the customer. Customer is responsible for neighborhood covenants and site preparation. In some areas installation of storage buildings is not permitted. Please determine your local building rules and regulations concerning installation before considering a purchase.

What kind of siding do you use?We use different siding materials on different products. All our standard siding products are manufactured by Louisiana Pacific™. These products are treated to resist moisture and insect damage, designed to stay straight and hold paint extremely well, are manufactured using environmentally friendly methods and are covered by a manufacturer’s 50-Year Limited Warranty.
-
What should I do before the build?Determine where your property lines are, and select an appropriate building site. You are responsible to select a location for your shed building that is within your property lines and in conformity with any applicable set back rules or regulations. We do require the construction area to be cleared and prepared to within 4" of level (side to side, back to front), that we have at least 4' of clearance around and above the building site. This step is the most important and lasting impact that you can have on your building project. It is best if the site is located in a high spot of the yard to provide drainage away from your shed. If you have to “build up” a site be sure that the soil is tamped or compacted to avoid later settling.
-
How long does it take to build a shed?Although there are exceptions, the majority of our buildings are built within 3 days.
-
Can you paint my shed for me?The standard cost to paint the exterior is $4.25 per sq. ft.
-
Do I need to be home during the shed installation? It is not necessary to be present for every phase of the construction process. We do ask however that you are initially available to show our shed installer the proper placement of your building and are also available upon completion to do a walk through inspection with our installer.
